Right now the world needs you

Sometimes you have to take a stand. Sometimes you can't wait for someone else to do it. Sometimes there are no shades of grey, but only black or white. And you must choose the black or the white. There is no middle ground here. You either believe that humans are human and therefore deserve basic rights and humane treatment, or you believe that we are somehow separated ... by color, by language, by border, by region, by country, by race, by religion, by whatever you choose to hold up as an integral part of what it is to be human. We condemn the Nazis for their choices in WWII while ignoring our own history of cordoning off groups based on our fear of the other. We, as a nation, have been here before, and after each time we, as a nation, have asked how we got here. This is our chance to stop it before we get there. This is our chance to rise to the level of humanity that is required of us. The world needs kindness and decency, openness to differences, and honoring of the many experiences that make up the human race....not separation and anger, fear of the other, and domination over those we see as different from ourselves. As Clarissa Pinkola Estes has said:

"We were made for these times......Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach."
