"Sometimes in the waves of change we find our true direction". – Gerry Lopez

Hi! My name is Kayla, and I am so glad that you found an interest in counseling! I am currently a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland, and it is my mission to prioritize my clients’ individual needs, values, and goals through our time working together. I am passionate about creating a safe and nonjudgmental space for each client to tell their story. I believe that every person is the expert of their own life, and that my role is to actively listen and support each individual in the ways that suit them best. I believe that the past can have a major impact on a person’s present and future, and I am excited to work through it all together. My populations of interest include working with adolescents and adults. I have experience working with both adolescents and adults on a variety of issues and life challenges such as upbringings away from parents, childhood trauma, difficult life transitions, anxiety, depression, conflict among interpersonal relationships, and navigating life through a loved one’s substance use. I take a person-centered approach to therapy that integrates aspects of Interpersonal Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, DBT, CBT, mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy. We are a team, and I cannot wait to navigate the waves of life together!
