Christine Gonzalez, LCPAT

"Art is not always about pretty things. It's about who we are, what happened to us, and how our lives are affected." -Elizabeth Broun

I am a registered, board-certified, and licensed art therapist. I work from a Gestalt therapy perspective and was trained at the Gestalt Training Institute of Philadelphia. I received my master’s degree in art therapy in 2008 and have enjoyed practicing art therapy ever since.

I work with clients who are interested in engaging in the creative arts process and living more authentically. No previous art experience is necessary to engage in the art therapy process, only a desire to create. Art projects may include painting, drawing, collage, art journaling, writing and more.

The creative arts process can help you reconnect with yourself, become more grounded in your identity, develop self-awareness, and help you cope with emotions. It is a great way to express yourself when you cannot find the words. You are ultimately the author of your story.

I have worked with children, teens, and adults. I am particularly drawn to work including LGBTQIA+ population, women’s issues, and healthcare workers (particularly working in in-patient psych or forensic settings). I have experience using art therapy to help people explore symptoms relating to anxiety, depression, PTSD, and relational issues.
