“You are not your illness. You have an individual story to tell. You have a name, a history, a personality. Staying yourself is part of the battle”. Julian Seifter
Hello, My name is Jennifer, and I am a graduate student at Widener University. I am doing my specialization internship at Bodhi Counseling. Before I started down the path of pursuing a social work degree I had previously studied Business Management at Misericordia University.
Before this internship I have also done my generalist internship at an adoption agency working with birth mothers and families that wanted to adopt.
I have professional experience in the behavioral health field. Professional activities included interacting with managers on mental health challenges. Our focus was on how we can connect individuals with this mental health challenge to resources in the community.
I have also had experience being an intake coordinator at a substance use facility. I would be the first person to speak to someone looking for treatment.
I consider some of the modalities that I will be utilizing to be strengths-based, person-centered, and my competence In narrative therapy. I feel very comfortable using art as a way to build rapport and strengthen emotional expression.
I want my clients to feel safe in the environment that I create with them as well as feeling empowered to go on their journey with me. Telling me your story gives it value and hopefully we can explore that together.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my spouse. We have two dogs that are spoiled rotten, and I enjoy reading.
