Hello! My name is Ann Gonzalez (she/her/hers). I am a Master of Social Work student in University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work and I am about halfway through the program. I am completing their Mental Health and Trauma concentration. I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after graduating high school and have worked for the Armed Forces for close to 20 years. I decided to pursue my MSW after a volunteer opportunity to work with unaccompanied immigrant children in El Paso, Texas. This trip inspired me to pursue my lifelong dream of working in the mental health field. I speak Spanish fluently and was born in the U.S. to an immigrant parent and a first-generation U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
I am passionate about veteran’s issues, women’s issues, the LGBTQ+ community, and the Latinx community. I am very interested in a trauma-informed, client empowerment approach to therapy. I believe it is my job to listen and help clients discover what their own goals are and how to work to achieve them in a way that they are comfortable with. I believe that therapy should assist clients in improving their relationships with themselves and with others.
In my free time, I love mountain biking, rock climbing, hanging out with my dog and cat and my partner, and being a mom. I am really excited to join the wonderful Bodhi Counseling team!
